A situation like this, being sexually assaulted and then realizing that you were in love with that rapist was just...absurd. However, when he first heard the banging on the door and Sonic practically begging for Shadow to let him in so they could talk... It broke his heart and he unsure if he should actually open the door or not and talk it out with the hero.
